History
City2 will celebrate its 35 years in October 2013
With its 105 brands distributed across four floors and a total surface area of 51,000m2, City 2 is the largest urban shopping centre in Belgium.
Situated a stone's throw from the Grand Place of Brussels, City 2 has easy access thanks to, among others, the Rogier metro station. For those who prefer to travel by car, there is also a large covered car park with 420 places directly linked to the « Snackcity » area of City 2.
City 2 has attracted a loyal public for more than 30 years. Its success is undoubtedly due to its pleasant architecture, its bright ambience from two glass roofs that fill the centre with daylight and a gentle and agreeable atmosphere, whatever the climate outside.
City 2 first came to life in 1978 on rue Neuve, which had been pedestrianised 3 years earlier. Complete renovation, with the addition of an extra floor dedicated to Fnac, was carried out in 1999.
In 2007, City 2 welcomed some 15.8 million visitors, before blowing out its 30 candles the following year.
Today, City 2 continues to attract numerous visitors from the crowd of 40,000 who stroll along the rue Neuve every day.
